Project Scope:
Kanu Hawaii is a movement of people drawing on island strengths to make Hawaii a model of environmental sustainability, economic resilience and compassionate community. This design was part of design competition to develop a new design for the non-profit organization. Although it was not chosen as the winner it was a runner up.

The initial concept was to create a design that would appeal to the user and convey and "islandy" feel throughout a mix of vibrant and subtle colors. Since the website was intended as a social-network for island activists the use of modern Web 2.0 style design was also put forth.

The user profile pages uses a traditional social network layout found borrowing elements from sites like Facebook, MySpace and LinkedIn, which I felt would give new users a familiar interface they could relate to.
