Artist Statement

A series of events in my life have conjured dreams of being a visual communication artist. As a young child, one can be naïve and carefree to the complexities of life, but looking back I now know what these events meant. It is time for me to fulfill my dream of furthering my education and allow my messages to be conveyed through the power of images.

Since I was young I knew I wanted to undertake a career where I could use and develop my creativity. As a child I spent most of my time drawing and coloring and I was always intrigued by art and the meaning behind it.

As I got older my interests shifted from traditional art to commercial design and corporate campaigns. It was not until later in life, during my high school years, were I learned about the vast field of visual communication. It was there where I was introduced to the various forms of media and realized that art does not have to be confined to the limitations of canvas and paint, since then my goal has been to bring artistic value to commercial design.

As the years have gone by I have been exposed to the various fields in the industry and have concluded that this is my passion and I would love to continue exploring not just the techniques but also the theories behind them.

My goal as a designer is to continue learning and finding new ways to solve design problems. I feel that furthering my education, not only in academia, but also in keeping up with the latest sociological trends, will allow me to become a better designer.

Eventually I would like to become a professor of design and give back to the design community in the form of teaching. To conclude I would gladly welcome the opportunity to learn from the professor and peers of the Communication Design Masters Program at Texas State University.
